Seven heating apprentice finalists set to get nationwide recognition at prestigious event in Cheltenham
The end of this month shall see the most prestigious awards ceremony for apprentices within the HVAC sector. On the 29 and 30 March 2017, the HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year awards will take place at the ADEY Professional Heating Solutions’ Training and Conference Centre. The conference centre, part of ADEY’s headquarters in Cheltenham, will see seven finalists shortlisted for this year’s heating apprentice award.
The Heating Apprentice of the Year award is sponsored by HIP UK. The award ceremony was created in 2009 to celebrate the achievements of heating and plumbing apprentices. HIP Magazine, its sponsor, is billed as the only magazine for plumbing and heating students. It is published by SNG Publishing, with SNG standing for Supporting the Next Generation.
Regional heats have taken place between the 17 January and the 02 March at seven locations: Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Burnley, Barnstaple, Bridgend, Coalville, Uxbridge, and Belfast. One of the regional finalists is Tayla Wileman from Church Gresley, who won the East Midlands regional heat at Coalville. She is a plumbing apprentice at C. V. Lane and Son Plumbing and Heating.
During the regional heats, each plumbing and heating apprentice undertook a day’s worth of practical tasks. Successful winners in each region went on to this month’s finals.
The ADEY Professional Heating Solutions’ Training and Conference Centre opened in 2013. Costing £1m to refurbish the building, it includes a 7,000 square feet auditorium for 100 people, a boardroom, and classrooms. There is also a test rig laboratory and demonstration rooms.
If you know someone who has been nominated for the HIP UK’s Heating Apprentice of the Year award, pass on our good wishes. If you happen to be one of them (and reading this article), we wish you the very best of luck and hope you enjoy your day in Cheltenham, whether on the 29th or 30th of March.
